Crimewave

Everything in the world of Crimewave is surreal, fractured, and distorted. Often referred to as My Bloody Valentine meets Aphex Twin, Crimewave combines 90s shoe-gaze music with contemporary electronic music.

Hot off touring with the likes of Kim Gordon and George Clanton last year, Crimewave’s sound has been described as shoe-gaze 2.0. A futuristic take on an old genre, using the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain’s wall of sound approach and cutting it up, stretching it and obscuring it in whatever way the latest technology allows.

Crimewave’s debut EP, Altercation, released on Black Acre Records talks of the dangerous, frenetic and grubby sides of Northern nightlife. Less of a meaningful concept and more of an observation, the tracks here talk of increased police presence, inebriated rage outside the club, and rain washing blood down the drains of the streets. Altercation is about the surrealities in real life experiences.

Crimewave has also played alongside Clark, Lynks, PVA, Folly Group, Audiobooks (UK Tour), Warmduscher and Scalping amongst many others. Headlines in London, Manchester and Bristol have cemented Crimewave as a key component of the underground UK music scene.
