Strike A Pose

Strike A Pose is a collective of friends and artists in Liverpool who put on fundraiser parties in support of local workers engaged in industrial action. At each party, there’s a blend of performance art, political discussion, live music, movement and dance, all culminating in a disco.
The collective began life when a one-off event at QUARRY was planned in late 2022 to raise money for striking postal workers. The night was split into two halves. First, a kind of collaborative cabaret featuring interactive games, call and response performances, live music and dance. The second half was then sountracked by what would become the first of Strike A Pose’s resident DJs.
Since that first event, the night has become a regular feature of QUARRY’s programming, with returning acts and characters gently holding partygoers in the night’s message of solidarity. Money has been raised for staff on strike in the NHS, at Liverpool Museums, Livv Housing, and on the railways.
The story of Strike A Pose has seen people running through bubbles to free jazz, jumping through hoops for a punk rock dog, singing along to an Italian karaoke classic, watching Satan do a striptease, and seeing themselves in the mirror as the room sings together about how we can rebuild society in our image
More of an overarching banner rather than a solid group of a specific number of people doing one thing, Strike A Pose is a sprawling group, and an invitation for people to come and be together.
